Residents no longer need to visit an Aadhaar enrolment centre to update their address. The entire procedure can be completed through the official myAadhaar portal (myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in) in a few minutes from home.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Visit myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in and click on “Login”.
- Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number and captcha, then click “Send OTP”.
- Log in with the OTP received on your Aadhaar-registered mobile number.
- Select “Update Demographics Data” → “Address Update”.
- Enter your complete new address in English and the local language displayed.
- Upload a scanned copy of valid address proof (clear PDF or image).
- Review the details, submit the request and note down the Update Request Number (URN).

UIDAI accepts more than 40 documents, including:
- Electricity bill, water bill, or gas connection bill (not older than 3 months)
- Bank statement or passbook with bank stamp
- Rent or lease agreement (registered or notarised)

After submission, UIDAI normally verifies and approves genuine requests within 7–10 working days (many are processed even earlier).
